SINGAPORE - Two people were taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on the AYE on July 10.

The accident led to lane closures and a massive jam along the expressway.

The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident, which happened near the Clementi Avenue 6 exit towards Tuas, at about 11.10am.

It involved a trailer, a van and two cars, the police said.

A 45-year-old male van driver and a 45-year-old car driver were conscious when taken to the hospital, they added.

The SCDF said that one person was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and the other to the National University Hospital.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) alerted motorists to the accident on social media platform X at about 11.15am, urging them to avoid the first to third lanes.

It noted there was congestion up to the Buona Vista exit.

In a video and photos posted on Facebook, a van with a badly damaged bumper and its door ajar is seen at a stop in front of a trailer.

Police investigations are ongoing.
