Recent remarks by Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, Mr Ong Ye Kung, have highlighted efforts across both healthcare and education to ensure that technology is harnessed effectively and responsibly, benefiting communities and the next generation alike.

In a doorstop interview on health efforts in the northern regions, Minister Ong outlined plans to modernise and expand community healthcare services through digital means. The government intends to increase the frequency of Community Health Posts, providing residents with more regular access to health services.

Integral to this expansion is the adoption of telehealth capabilities, allowing residents to connect remotely with NHG Health doctors for consultations, prescriptions and appointment scheduling. By equipping CHPs with telehealth technology, Singapore aims to make healthcare more accessible, efficient and responsive, particularly for residents in northern communities.

These digital systems are expected to improve continuity of care, streamline patient interactions and reduce the need for travel to central healthcare facilities, demonstrating how technology can directly enhance the quality and reach of medical services.
