Arsenal Reach Historic Champions League Final

Arsenal beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday to seal a 2-1 aggregate win and reach the UEFA Champions League final for the first time in 20 years.

Footage shows home fans gathering outside the stadium to welcome their team’s bus with flares, while booing Atletico Madrid on arrival. Atletico players and head coach Diego Simeone were seen in despair as they left the stadium after the tie.

“It wasn’t meant to be. Of course, the most beautiful thing would have been to end by lifting the trophy, but it wasn’t possible. And now, talking and regretting things is too late,” Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak told the press.

Atletico Madrid React to Defeat

“If one team is superior in every aspect, dominates you and overwhelms you with chances, then it’s different. But I don’t think that was the case,” team captain Koke added. “The team had moments in the first half where we could have scored. In the second half as well. So you leave feeling even more hurt.”
