SAF serviceman taken to hospital after accident along Upper Changi Road East

SINGAPORE - A 24-year-old male Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) serviceman was taken to hospital after an accident involving an SAF vehicle and a van on June 10.

The police said they were alerted to the accident, which took place along Upper Changi Road East towards New Upper Changi Road, at about 7am.

A video of the

aftermath of the

accident was posted on Facebook group SGRV.

In the video, the

stationary

SAF vehicle

- a five-tonner -

can be seen having collided with the van, which is positioned perpendicular on the middle lane of the road, just before the stop line at

a

traffic light.

An ambulance can also be seen.

In a statement issued on

June 10

, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) said that SAF is aware of the road accident and is assisting with the police with ongoing investigations.

The ministry did not say if the driver who was hurt was a full-time national serviceman or a regular.

He was conscious when he was taken to Changi General Hospital, and was discharged after receiving outpatient treatment, said Mindef and the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
