A Social Media Post That Stirred the Pot
A TikTok video by user @/tommypage77 recently accused Bismillah Muslim Food Stall, an eatery located in Amoy Street Food Centre, of dishonesty for charging $6 for their Maggie Goreng, despite the stall’s sign listing the price as $5.
However, the TikTok post was deleted soon after, believed to be due to the overwhelming backlash it received online.
What began as a complaint quickly turned into an unexpected wave of support for the family-run business, as an overwhelming number of online commenters rallied behind the stall.
Customers Speak Out in the Comment Section
The TikTok post, which initially aimed to bring attention to what the user perceived as an issue, quickly backfired as the comments section filled with messages of support for Bismillah Muslim Food Stall.
One customer, who shared they had been eating there for almost six years, praised the Maggie Goreng and prata dishes as “delicious,” and “nice,” saying they would continue supporting the shop even if the price went up by $1.
