SINGAPORE - A 43-year-old bus driver was arrested on May 9 after a fatal collision with a motorcyclist in Woodlands.
The motorcyclist, 36, died after he was taken unconscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, said the police on May 10.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and police were alerted to the accident at about 6.25pm in Woodlands Avenue 12 towards Woodlands Avenue 10, near the junction.
The male bus driver was taken into custody for careless driving without reasonable consideration causing death, added the police.
Investigations are ongoing.
Motorcyclists or pillion riders were involved in 55.2 per cent of all traffic accidents in 2024, and accounted for 59.9 per cent of fatalities in such accidents, according to an annual road traffic report released by the police in February.
This is despite the fact that motorcycles make up only 14.7 per cent of the total vehicle population here.
