: The markets started fairly higher on Thursday tracking firm global cues. The BSE Sensex rose 300 points to 57,115, while the NSE Nifty climbed 93 points to 17,130. 

Among the Sensex-30 shares, HUL, Sun Pharma, M&M, IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints, Bajaj finserv, Axis Bank, L&T and Tata Steel were the top gainers, rising up to 3 per cent. HCL Tech, HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank, Bharti Airtel andTCS, meanwhile, were in the red. 

In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices also opened in the positive territory, up to 0.73 per cent higher.
