SINGAPORE – A 44-year-old man was arrested for drink driving after his van skidded and crashed in Jurong in the wee hours of June 14.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the incident in Yung Ho Road towards Jalan Tukang at 1.05am on June 14.

SCDF said it assessed a person for minor injuries, but the person declined to be taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.

In a video posted to SGRV’s Facebook page, a grey van is seen moving off from a traffic junction when the light turns green.

It then weaves between the right and left lanes a few times, before mounting the kerb outside a Certis Cisco building.

Another driver is seen rushing to the van to check on the driver, along with two other men wearing helmets, with thick white smoke spewing from the van shortly after.

The driver was later arrested, and police investigations are ongoing.

The number of people arrested for drink driving increased from 1,663 in 2023 to 1,778 in 2024, while the number of fatal accidents due to drink driving rose from 11 cases in 2023 to 12 cases in 2024, according to the Traffic Police.
