SINGAPORE - A bottled vegetable product has been recalled due to the possible presence of rubber pieces.

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said on May 9 that it directed Walluco, an importer, to recall Hak Boerenkool, a brand of bottled curly kale.

This followed a similar recall from the Netherlands. The European Commission Food Alerts’ Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed has also ordered the product to be recalled, SFA said.

The affected products are in 680g bottles and expire in 2027.

On April 25, the product’s manufacturer published an advisory on its website saying that the rubber pieces may pose a health risk. It added that it is issuing a product recall as a precaution.

People who have bought the implicated products should not consume them, SFA said. Those who have done so and have concerns about their health should seek medical advice.

They may also contact their point of purchase for enquiries.
