KUALA LUMPUR – An anti-graft rally in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 25 attracted around 100 participants looking to put pressure on Malaysia Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to speed up the pace of reforms and crack down on corruption.

The protesters were set to march from Kuala Lumpur City Hall to Merdeka Square.

The organiser, a previously unknown group that calls itself the People’s Secretariat Against Corruption, had aimed to gather some 50 organisations for the rally.

The rally was being held a day after Datuk Seri Anwar said that he had no objection to the demonstration by civil society groups and opposition parties, though he also expressed doubt that any corruption had taken place during his tenure as prime minister.
