We always love a good, no-frills classic carrot cake dish, but this dish is actually very versatile! This is especially evident at 333 Carrot Cake which has not only won over regulars with their black and white carrot cake, but have also got customers hooked on their special Indian-inspired masala carrot cake as well.
The stall is helmed by Desmond Wee, a former tour guide who went from showing tourists the local sights to waking up at the crack of dawn to dish out a beloved local favourite. It all started when the pandemic reared its ugly head and prompted him to make a career switch by signing up with NEA’s hawker development programme.
“I wanted to do something in the morning. And carrot cake is something that everyone of all ages will like,” he laughed when asked why he chose to hone his skills for this particular dish. After training under another carrot cake hawker whose stall is situated in Telok Blangah Crescent (we’ve reviewed them before), he took the extra step to complete some experimentation of his own with his family as guinea pigs.
